Hog Trough's Deep Fried Hot Dog-Wickenburg AZ

If you are ever traveling through Wickenburg, AZ and want to try some BBQ, that also has other fun menu items, the Hog Trough would be your place!
I like to try new things, not the kinda food you can get anywhere, so when I saw...The Original Hog Dog was DEEP FRIED I had to go with it. It seemed like something you would see Guy from Diners, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives trying. PLUS its wrapped in BACON!
It was really good, not greasy like I thought it might be. There waffle fries were pretty amazing too!

BANG BANG

A few months ago we were in Iowa and were craving some Asian food. I had seen an exit sign for place called "Bang Bang" and thought with a name like that it could be fun. We pulled off and had no idea what was in store, but lucky for us it was a Mongolian Grill style restaurant. Yummy and fit everyones style. They even had a nacho bar (didn't really fit in, but we got queso so it didn't matter) and a yogurt bar.

If you are ever near in Iowa (thats the only place they are now), give it a try.

Tasty Tuesday-Cherokee Strip BBQ, Stillwater, OK

I wanted to share with you a great BBQ place in Stillwater, OK.....
For my graduation we ate here. This was the first restaurant I had even eaten at in Stillwater, so I thought it was only fitting to have a little graduation get together there.

I ordered the 3 meat platter and split it with my grandpa.
Reasonably priced and included 2 sides.
Top is brisket, then turkey, and middle bottom is pork loin.

Stop by if you are ever in Stillwater. The food is great and the people who work there are great!

The lady( I believe was the owner) congratulated me about 10 times on graduation and told me
" Don't forget, the world is out there waiting for you!" she encouraged me to follow my dreams and have fun.

Gella's Diner

Last week I took a little road trip to western Kansas. Along the way we stopped in Hays and ate at Gella's Diner and Lb Brewing Co. I had eaten at Gella's a year ago, but needed a refresher. So when I told my mom I was going, she said, "Make sure you get the green beans!"

I ordered the Friday Special of Fish Tacos with a side of green beans.
The tacos were good, but the green beans were amazing.

They also have Lb Brewing Co. As I've mentioned before I'm not a drinker, but with all the fun names of the beers and the hype ("A Meal In Itself") of the Oatmeal Stout I ordered one for my company.
The picture explains it all. I can hardly see where the beer is on the table. It was bitter and had an after taste of coffee. This might be to some people's liking but not ours!

I enjoyed the meal and would go back, he however was not impressed by his chicken fried steak. I guess next time I go, I need to take somebody different.

Location:117 E 11th, Hays, KS

History: Started in 2005. Read more here.

What I like about them: The owner was originally a rancher.
The decor and atmosphere. Its classy yet laid back. They have a stock tank as their hostess table, old road signs made into flowers- Yep, I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture, yet my company already thought I was weird for taking pictures of the food.

Raise your Glass to the New Year......... High Noon Saloon

This evening if you are planning on having an alcoholic beverage besides champagne. I suggest a brew from High Noon Saloon.  I'm not much of the drinker, but this Kansas Made product gets my approval, for what its worth.  High Noon Saloon donated Annie's Ale to the American Agri-Women convention. The cans were super cute.

ANNIE’S AMBER ALE2011 (Twice) & 2009 SILVER Medal,
2004 BRONZE Medal
,
World Beer Championship, Chicago, IL.
The first beer produced here, and it’s still a favorite! A smooth, malty amber taste highlighted with caramel notes and just the right amount of hops. Alcohol by volume: 5.5% Now available in 12oz cans on premises and in KS liquor stores: Kansas City metro, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Lansing, Topeka.

Why I like it: They are a micro-brewery, Historical, it's Kansas made. It has a western feel to it, with names such as Rough Rider Pale Ale, Stampede Stout, and Lewis & Clark Lager. Check out their complete listing here.

History:  Leavenworth KS was the site of 10 German breweries
and 69 saloons at the turn of the 20th century

Another plus is they have a restaurant. I ate there this past summer and recommend it. The food was good, but the atmosphere in the old historic building was great!

Oven-Baked Garlic Parmesan Potato “Chips”

These remind me of the "Buffalo Chips" at Buffalo Wild Wings. Quick & Simple

A hit with everyone the evening I made these!

    • 3 russet potatoes
    • 2-3 tablespoons light olive oil
    • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
    • 1/4 cup Parmesan, freshly grated
    • garlic salt
    • fresh ground pepper
    • chopped Italian parsley (for garnish)
Clean the potatoes. Roughly peel strips of the skin from each potato, leaving a few strips of the skin intact. Using a crimped knife (or a regular will work just brilliantly, as well), slice the potatoes into 1/4″ pieces.
Place all of the sliced potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over the potatoes, then stir to evenly coat. Add the panko, parmesan, garlic salt, and pepper. Stir again, making sure each of the potato slices has a kiss of oil, panko, and parmesan. Spread the potatoes onto a large parchment covered baking sheet. Bake in an oven preheated to 450 degrees for 18-25 minutes, or until the cheese and panko is golden brown and your desired crispiness is achieved.
Sprinkle with a pinch of fresh parmesan and chopped parsely. Serve immediately alongside your favorite burgers, steak, or barbecued chicken. Enjoy the indulgence!
