Repurposed Gift Tin

We had this old tin in a box to get rid of, I decided to repurpose it for  my best friends birthday. She is the type that likes hand made, one-of-a-kind items. 

BEFORE:

Funny thing is I went to an auction the next day and they had a tin just like this in a box. If I had wanted a matching pair I never would have been able to find another :)

AFTER:

I personalized it with their brand, and since her birthday is the same day as Kansas Day, I thought sunflowers fit perfectly. To top it off,  I filled it with chocolate chip cookies.

How I did it: Washed the tin with soap & water. Let it dry completely. Applied an all-purpouse house paint. Then painted details with acrylic craft paints. Sealed it with 2 coats of clear Krylon spray.

Cupcakes for your Cupcake-Ta'Da Cupcakes

I was introduced to Ta'Da Cupcakes this past December when I set up for a Christmas Vendor Fair. They were the booth next to me. I'm not sure why, but it seems at every event I go to, the food people are way to close :)

I'm not sure how busy they are this Tuesday, but what a fun treat to order for your Valentine.

The cupcakes I took home:

Peppermint was my favorite! They had hot cocoa, spice, and cinnamon roll.

History: They are a rather new business. No store front yet, they cater from the home

Scenic Sunday~The Corn Palace~

Women In Blue Jeans Conference is in Mitchell, SD home of the Famous-CORN PALACE!
 When you are driving on the interestate into Mitchell you will pass approximately 1,000 signs advertising The Corn Palace. Ok, ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but there are quite a few of them. We decided we had to stop if there is so much hype about it. I didn't have time to go in, but there is what I snapped from the outside.

"The Corn Palace serves as a multi-use center for the community and region. The facility hosts stage shows, as well as sports events in its arena. The World's Only Corn Palace is an outstanding structure which stands as a tribute to the agricultural heritage of South Dakota.

The original Corn Palace, called "The Corn Belt Exposition" was established in 1892. Early settlers displayed the fruits of their harvest on the building exterior in order to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil. The third and present building was completed for it first festival at the present location in 1921.

The exterior decorations are completely stripped down and new murals are created each year. The theme is selected by the Corn Palace Festival Committee and murals are designed by a local artist."

I can't believe this is made with Corn!!!


Most of the signs on your way into Mitchell advertising The Corn Palace have sayings such as "You're Almost Ear", "We're Glad You're Ear" and the like
